The Still Life series (2006–ongoing) by the artist employs a unique apparatus through which various kinds of fruits are thrown into the structure of two standing reinforced glass plates. The fall and suspension of the fruit evokes the notion of time and the mortal destiny of all living things. Still Life was made especially in accordance with the architectural features of the Petit Palais. It highlights the cycle of nature and its renewal, featuring the notions of insubstantiality, immateriality, and finally, impermanence. The outdoor exhibition of the sculpture will accelerate the decomposition of the fruit immersed in the surrounding landscape: the fruit holds itself between two glass plates, appearing as if floating in mid-air.
